A Higher-Standard Preceptorship Experience
for PMHNP Students

At Leading Edge Mental Health, we’ve built a preceptorship model that goes beyond simply meeting clinical requirements. Our goal is to provide a structured, supportive, and clinically rich training experience that prepares students for real-world practice.

Students benefit from a thoughtfully designed learning environment that emphasizes consistency, collaboration, and exposure to high-quality outpatient care.

What Sets Our Preceptorship Apart:

  • Experienced, specialized clinicians: Learn directly from seasoned providers in both psychotherapy and psychiatric medication management.

  • Streamlined, low-friction experience: Full administrative support ensures onboarding, communication, and documentation are seamless for students and faculty alike.

  • Consistent weekly supervision: Structured, student-driven supervision designed to deepen clinical insight and application.

  • Supplemental learning resources: Curated materials and optional learning opportunities to reinforce key concepts and support ongoing development.

  • Interdisciplinary exposure: Opportunities to gain insight into both psychotherapy and medication management, including guest speaker sessions.

  • Proven, scalable model: Established partnerships across multiple universities with consistent, high-quality student experiences.

Our model is intentionally designed so students leave not only having completed their hours, but feeling more confident, capable, and prepared for clinical practice.

NOT SURE WHICH TRACK FITS?

How to Choose the Right Track

All precepting opportunities on this page are designed for PMHNP students, and most programs require both psychotherapy and medication management hours. The key question is not which track you need overall—but which one your program requires at this stage of your training. Some programs sequence psychotherapy first, while others begin with medication management. Before selecting a track, review your school’s practicum guidelines, current course requirements, and required clinical competencies. Choose the track that aligns with your current course and required hours for this rotation. Of course, you can always return for the other track for your next rotation.
